Saturday calls for internet famous Dalgona coffee, aka whipped coffee. If you’re like me, you’ve upped your coffee game in recent weeks while stuck at home. Now it’s time to put away your fancy, hipster beans and break out that $3 instant coffee you bought years ago for that one cake recipe you never ended up making. Now’s not the time to worry about expiration dates, so let’s get to it.
I’m not going to try to determine where this recipe came from or link it because you can Google it yourself and find 800 variations and videos of soft-spoken influencers making this trendy little treat. But here’s what I used for 2 servings:
- 4 tbsp instant coffee
- 2 tsp granulated sugar
- 4 tbsp hot water
- Glasses with ice and 2% milk about 2/3 of the way full
I used a hand mixer, not a whisk, because I’m not a masochist and it took about 2 minutes to beat it into oblivion. The next part is important. If you use a regular, opaque coffee mug, NO ONE will be able to see your work of art. I was recently informed that the cool kids use double-wall glass mugs, but I only had mason jars. Despite my sub-par display, this heavily abused instant coffee was pretty good. It somehow feels like a fancier iced latte but with sh*ttier coffee. Now, while there is no alternate universe where I would break out the hand mixer everyday, it was still a nice treat. Thank you internet, for spicing up my Saturday morning.
Dishes: I mean, a lot, for coffee?
Would make again: Who knows
